I want to clean the coop as few times as needed while still having a healthy, sanitary place for my girls to live so i use a deep layer of litter. On your small farm, use a deep litter method to compost your pine shavings, straw or hay in place in your chicken coop and keep it smelling clean.. Do i have to clean out my chicken coop every week? i’ve heard about the “deep litter” method for raising chickens. what is that? it’s a neat, almost-forgotten.
